A Seat in the Gogs – 4 

It was Helen’s turn to preach last Sunday (to listen click here http://www.emmanuelchurchanglesey.org.uk/ and follow the links). Between us we cover three Sundays in every month with Helen doing one of these. And just in case there’s any confusion – at our church we have men and women preaching and teaching. It’s not ‘preaching’ for the men and ‘sharing’ for the women!

Ukrainian tennis player and conversations at breakfast.

Egypt, Sharm El Sheikh, hot… Twelve of us were running a team building course for one of the main Egyptian mobile phone operators. We were all anxious, this course was for the senior mangers including the CEO, God himself. The first part of the course involved the 120 strong group building eight ‘bridges’ on the hotel’s tennis court. Despite careful planning and meticulous communication, on arriving at the hotel we found that a large and unfriendly Ukrainian man had booked the tennis court for when we needed it.

A seat in the Gogs: being church in the north of Cymru 3

Over the past few days I preached in two very different churches: Carmel Baptist Church in Penysarn, Anglsey, and The Hope Centre/Pioneer church in Pensby, Wirral. Two churches representing two very different traditions. The first a Welsh speaking church with its theological roots deep in the radical reformation of the 16th century; the second a new church within a movement only a few decades old.
